May is Historic Preservation Month, and Virginia Beach Mayor Robert M. "Bobby" Dyer issued a proclamation inviting citizens to recognize the importance of historic preservation in maintaining the historical identity of Virginia Beach.
One of the most important things for historic preservation is to pay attention to the little things. When people think of preservation, they often think of big things like structural improvements. However, things like maintaining proper temperature and moisture levels, regular cleaning and checking for issues can help prevent small problems from turning into much larger ones.
